Grief
Kitbash

Grief Kitbash is a 6-and-a-half-minute short film that navigates a constellation of domestic sites once occupied by my relatives throughout Nebraska and rural Iowa: farms, homes, and businesses that have since been sold or reclaimed become collected evidence of a family's relationship to grief and change. Kitbash, a term borrowed from the 3D modeling and gaming community, also known as model bashing, refers to creating a new 3D model from parts of existing models or meshes. This growing database of photogrammetric meshes exists together within a digitally animated world. These meshes expose the impact of memory on scale, form, and time, ripping holes through buildings, collapsing space, and merging distance.
